We offer bespoke multi-disciplinary packages for assessment of autism across the north west region. When you contact us, you will be offered a consultation at your home or a venue of your choice with two of our clinicians. This first appointment allows us to listen to your concerns and decide on the best way forward, which may be in the form of recommendations, signposting to other services or agreeing to move onto a full autism assessment.
As well as recognised autism assessments, we may recommend additional testing or profiling in other areas, such as sensory processing, IQ and language skills. You will be under no obligation to continue with the full autism assessment. Additionally if we feel at this stage that an autism assessment is not appropriate then we will advise you of this.
If you decide that you would like us to undertake an assessment, you will be offered a series of further appointments – these will take place in your own home if you are comfortable with the idea -and following this, you will receive a report outlining our findings.
It is important to note that assessment may not recommend a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder, but if this is the case, our description of the individual’s strengths and difficulties may also prove valuable. At this stage, you will also have the option of a more detailed report and recommendations for intervention that you will be free to share with others. This report will offer ideas for improving the wellbeing of the individual that will build on their skills and strengths as well as their difficulties.
Once assessment is complete and our findings have been shared, you may feel that you have enough new information to help you move on where a diagnosis has been given. Should the outcome of assessment recommend other services that we are able to provide, our recommendations will be completely impartial and there is no expectation that you should choose our follow-up services in preference to those offered elsewhere. Such follow-up services may include bespoke packages comprising extended assessment, individual therapy and/or training and consultation with other people involved in the individual’s care or support.
